Fort Leavenworth, one of the oldest Army bases, is nestled in Kansas. It is a small historical base with lots of history and a quaint feel. Fort Leavenworth not only houses the Army’s Combined Arms Center (CAC) but also Army University. Many service members – from all branches will attend school here for a year. Whether you are only here for a short period of time or for a full set of orders, we’re here to help you make the most of your time at Leavenworth!

Family Focus

Many families, especially students, may opt for on-post housing due to their short time there. If you have a young family the elementary schools and middle school on post are well regarded. The three schools, Bradley, Eisenhower, and MacArthur Elementary also offer 3/4 year old PreK. Fort Leavenworth has one middle school: Patton Junior High (7th-9th).

You can very likely walk or bike from your on-base home. You may even be able to take your children to school on your way into work! There are a number of youth programs offered on base: wrestling, a swim team, scouts, and seasonal sports. Leavenworth Senior High School is located just off post.

Make Leavenworth Your Hometown

For specialists major hospitals like Children’s Mercy, University of Kansas Medical Center, and Overland Park Regional Medical Center are accessible nearby.
